Advocacy Against Skin Bleaching
As the ongoing campaign against bleaching cream carried out by the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) continues to gather momentum, Avila Naturalle, a leading manufacturer of natural skin care products in Nigeria has weighed in on the campaign against skin bleaching, in support of the Agency.
Speaking on Inspiration FM, Lagos recently, during one of the company’s press rounds to help Nigerians understand the danger of bleaching, the President of Avila Naturalle Ltd, Mrs Temitope Mayegun cautioned Nigerians against the use of bleaching cosmetic products as they pose great danger to the health of users.
While commending NAFDAC on the campaign, Mrs. Mayegun said that the rate of skin bleaching in Nigeria is alarming. Citing the recent report from WHO which reveals that 77% of Nigerian women use skin lightening products which is the world’s highest percentage, she expresses concern that the need to urgently enlighten Nigerians on this social malaise is urgent and critical.
Mrs. Mayegun stated that using a genuinely natural skincare products that do not contain any harmful chemical substance is the safest and best way to keep the skin healthy and nourished because the natural ingredients used for these products contain all the necessary micronutrients that keep the skin healthy, smooth, soft and well-nourished which ultimately makes the skin glow naturally.
